Dr. Kari Kervinen

MD, PhD

Dr. Kari Kervinen is a consulting cardiologist at the Department of Medicine, Oulu University Hospital (Oulu, Finland). He obtained his medical degree from University of Helsinki. Thereafter, he specialized in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University of Oulu in 1995. His main clinical activities are in coronary and structural interventions, so that he has performed 6000 coronary angioplasties. He has served on the Board of the Finnish Cardiac Society 2012-2016.

 

Dr. Kervinen obtained his PhD from the University of Oulu in 1992. In the 1990´s he studied mainly lipid and alcohol metabolism and genetic factors affecting atherosclerosis. During the last decade, his main scientific interests have been in interventional cardiology. He has been involved in studies concerning bifurcation stenting, left main angioplasty, intravascular ultrasound, bioactive and drug eluting stents. He has been a steering committee member in the design and execution of several multicenter studies.
